The Gothic style is dominated by red and black. These two colors can enhance the personality of the work I create.
First, let’s explore a little about the Gothic style. This style is inspired by the design style of church buildings, better known as pastoral. We can see buildings or interiors with a classic Gothic style in churches, castles, and palaces built in the Middle Ages.
This Gothic style can give two different impressions depending on who designed it. Gothic style can give a gloomy or dark impression if the designer has a mysterious character. However, this style can also show the elegant and high-class side of the designer.
If you wish to incorporate a gothic design into your bedroom while keeping the overall interior unchanged, you can experiment with these tips and ideas:
1. Dark color grading
Applying gothic colors to deep character colors like red, black, dark purple, gold, dark green, and dark yellow (ochre) can be a great idea. However, I suggest that you experiment with a color scheme of red and black in the room because not only do these two colors have a solid character, but their combination is also visually pleasing and doesn’t cause any discomfort to the eyes.
2. Dark Bedding
You can achieve this in several ways to give your bedroom a gothic look. One option is to choose furniture with a red color scheme. For example, a bed with a black body and a mattress with black sheets can be a great starting point. You can enhance the gothic look by adding a black blanket or bedcover with red lists on both sides. All those things will create a striking contrast and make the red accents pop.
3. Gothic Vibes Bedroom Lamp
Another way to add to the gothic aesthetic is to choose a lamp with a black lamp body and a dark red hood. A lamp will create a warm and inviting atmosphere while maintaining the room’s overall style. Pairing this with black curtains will add to the ambience and create a cohesive look.
4. Memorial photo space
To complete the gothic look in your bedroom, you can add room accessories that contain your memorial photos in black frames with red markings to decorate the walls. The memorial photo space will add a personal touch to the room and create a sense of nostalgia. Besides, you can add other accessories, such as black candles, antique-looking mirrors, and other decorative items that fit the room’s overall style.
5. Red Bench
Adding a red bench to a gothic bedroom can increase its elegance and sophistication. The deep red color of the bench is a perfect match for the dark atmosphere of the room, and it provides a striking contrast when paired with black walls and furniture. Whether placed at the foot of the bed or against a wall, the bench can serve as a functional piece of furniture and a bold statement piece.
Black and red make a great color combination for a gothic vibes in the bedroom. Black enhances the red color on furniture, while red adds charm to black. This balance makes it the most harmonious blend for a unique and stylish look.
